Washington man spends 10 years in jail over a lie →
NOTE: This posting contains mature subject matter
A daughter of a Washington man wasn’t happy that he and her mother were divorced, so in early 2001 she lied to police that he raped her. In 2002 he was found guilty of three counts of “first-degree rape of a child” based mostly on her testimony and was sentenced to 15 years in jail. Then in January of this year she revealed to police that her testimony was a lie and the father was released after serving 10 years of his sentence.
Not only was this father jailed for 10 years for a crime he never committed, but his reputation has been completely tarnished because I imagine this guilty verdict was all over local and national news.
I don’t know how her father could ever forgive her for something as outrageous as this, and I hope he sues her for defamation, among other things, and disowns her for the rest of his life because there’s no possibility of recovery from something like this. He lost 10 years of his life over her lie.
Even if one day in the distant future they do end up getting back on talking terms a parent’s unconditional love for his or her child is most likely gone in his case so they wouldn’t be talking as father and daughter, but as a couple of strangers making small talk or something like that.
It’s pretty unfortunate for him that his own daughter betrayed him and ruined his life, and I personally hope he never sees her again.

On this day in 2007 a major tornado outbreak began in the central US
Sixty tornadoes were confirmed on March 28th alone including a devastating EF3 tornado in Holly, Colorado which damaged many homes and caused 2 deaths and 9 injuries.
In the following days more tornadoes touched down in the central US as this system, which was now organizing into a squall line, swept slowly across the region. The system finally weakened on March 31, 2007, but not before spawning over 80 tornadoes across 9 states (15 of which were strong tornadoes with a rating of EF2 or greater) and causing 5 deaths, several injuries and extensive damage.
The following is a series of radar stills showing the progression of the system over the 4-day period of the outbreak as well as excerpts of Jim Cantore’s fantastic coverage of the first night of the outbreak as it unfolded. These videos show how the whole system was stationary for the whole night and how some areas were hit by several rounds of severe weather and tornadoes. It remained nearly stationary until the 31st when it pushed northeast into Wisconsin and Illinois.

Evening Conjunction - The Moon, Venus and Jupiter in the same shot.
Note: You may have to go to full resolution to see Jupiter, it’s quite faint in this picture as the sun had just set when I took this.
